What we collect, and why.

The short version

HBCU Works is a free job board. You can search without an account. We keep the data needed to run the site, send you the emails you asked for, and understand how the site is used. We never sell your information. We use a Meta Pixel on the site to measure our own ads, which California law counts as "sharing"; you can opt out below.

Who we are

HBCU Works is operated by Elevated Development LLC. Questions about this policy go to contact@hbcuworks.org or the contact page.

What we collect

• Search activity. The terms and filters you use, so search works and so we can see which roles people look for. Not tied to you unless you sign in.
• Email address, only if you subscribe to the Jobs Digest or a job alert. We also store which page you subscribed from.
• Account information, only if you create an account (email, or your Google name and email if you sign in with Google), plus your bookmarks and saved searches.
• Outbound clicks. When you click Apply, we record that a job was clicked so we can tell which schools and roles get interest. Your application happens on the school's own site, and we never see it.
• Usage and device data collected by the analytics tools below: pages viewed, referring site and campaign tags, browser and device type, approximate location from your IP address, and session recordings with typed text masked.

How we use it

To run search and alerts, send the emails you asked for, fix bugs, understand which parts of the site are useful, measure our own advertising, and keep automated scrapers off the site. We do not use your information for any other purpose.

Who it goes to

We share data only with the services that help us run the site:

• Google Cloud and Firebase (hosting, database, sign-in).
• Google Analytics (site usage). Not linked to Google Ads.
• Microsoft Clarity (session recordings and heatmaps, with typed text masked).
• Resend (sends the digest and alert emails).
• Meta Platforms (Meta Pixel). Receives page views and milestone events such as "subscribed to the digest" along with the identifiers Meta sets in your browser, so we can tell which of our Facebook and Instagram ads brought people here and show our ads to people who visited. Meta may match this to a Meta account under its own privacy policy. No email address, search text, or job details are sent to Meta.

We do not sell personal information, we do not run third-party display ads, and we do not share subscriber lists with sponsors or schools. We may disclose information if the law requires it or to protect the site from abuse.

Your choices and rights

• Do Not Sell or Share. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, the Meta Pixel never loads. You can also block it with any content or cookie blocker. We do not sell your information.
• Email. Every digest and alert has a one-click unsubscribe.
• Account. Email us to see, correct, or delete what we hold about you. Deleting your account removes your bookmarks, saved searches, and alerts.
• Cookies. We use cookies to keep you signed in and, through the tools above, to measure usage and ads. Browser settings control the rest.

Residents of California and other states with privacy laws have the right to know, delete, and correct their information and to opt out of sharing for targeted advertising, as described above. We will not treat you differently for exercising these rights.

Retention

Subscriber emails stay until you unsubscribe. Account data stays until you delete the account. Analytics data is kept on the retention terms of each tool above (Google Analytics 14 months). Server logs are kept for 30 days.

Changes

When this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be noted in the Jobs Digest.
